2013 Six Flags Caribbean Concert Highlights – Bunji Garlin, Beenie Man & Friends
On Sunday, August 11, 2013, the Caribbean Summer Concert Series returned to Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, New Jersey, bringing Soca, Reggae, Dancehall and Hip-Hop together for one of the Northeast’s major Caribbean summer concerts.
Presented by TriniFly Promotions, the eighth annual event featured Beenie Man, Mr. Vegas, Bunji Garlin, D’Angel, Lee Mazin and Young Devyn. Christopher Martin was also advertised but was unable to perform because of a visa issue. Contemporary promotion confirms the August 11 date and advertised lineup, while post-event coverage confirms the artists who appeared.
Julianspromos was back at Six Flags with Sheniele “Vivaa” Dodson as part of the on-location coverage, capturing another chapter in the platform’s growing Caribbean entertainment archive.

The 8th Annual Caribbean Summer Concert Series
By 2013, the Caribbean Summer Concert Series had become an established annual attraction at Six Flags Great Adventure.
The format gave patrons more than a traditional concert experience. Fans could spend the day inside the amusement park before gathering for a major Caribbean show featuring artists from across several genres.
Contemporary promotion described the August 11 event as a combination of live Caribbean entertainment and the Six Flags experience, helping make the series a summer destination for Caribbean audiences throughout New York, New Jersey and the wider Northeast.

From Young Devyn to Dancehall Royalty
The lineup brought together artists at very different stages of their careers.
Young Devyn and her dancers were among the early performers, while Lee Mazin and D’Angel added to a bill that moved between Hip-Hop, Dancehall, Reggae and Soca.
Mr. Vegas and Beenie Man brought major Jamaican star power to the stage, with Beenie Man also bringing D’Angel back out during his set. Contemporary post-event coverage documented both artists as major parts of the afternoon.
For Julianspromos, Young Devyn’s appearance also carried a little extra history. She had been the subject of Vivaa’s first Julianspromos artist interview in 2011, making her part of the platform’s story from its earliest period of original media coverage.
Bunji Garlin and “Differentology”
Bunji Garlin arrived at Six Flags in the middle of one of the most important years of his career.
By summer 2013, “Differentology” was already moving well beyond the traditional Carnival season. Contemporary coverage from July described the record as gaining international attention, helped by its music video, Major Lazer remix and rapidly growing online audience.
At Six Flags, Bunji closed the concert with Fay-Ann Lyons and their daughter Syri nearby. Julianspromos also preserved a separate performance of “Differentology” with Syri joining her father onstage, uploaded on August 12, 2013, one day after the concert.
The moment now carries even more weight because it captures Bunji during the same year “Differentology” was pushing Soca toward a wider international audience.
A Caribbean Lineup Across Generations
Part of what made the 2013 concert interesting was the mix.
Beenie Man and Mr. Vegas were already internationally recognized Dancehall stars. Bunji Garlin was moving through a major crossover period. D’Angel represented contemporary Jamaican Dancehall, while Young Devyn represented a much younger Caribbean-American generation.
That range gave the event a broader Caribbean identity than a single-genre concert and reflected the kind of mixed audience the Six Flags series had developed by its eighth year.

Three Years After the Beginning
Six Flags held special significance in the early Julianspromos story.
In 2011, Julian Hackett and Sheniele “Vivaa” Dodson had traveled to Six Flags for one of Julianspromos’ earliest official media assignments, conducting artist interviews as the platform began moving from online promotion into original event coverage.
By 2013, Julianspromos was returning with a much broader media presence and a growing archive of Caribbean concerts, fetes, Carnivals and artist coverage.
The difference between those trips tells part of the story of how quickly the platform was developing.
