2012: From New York to a Wider Caribbean Circuit
Original Soca and Caribbean coverage from a year of growing interviews, Carnival media, concerts and expansion from New York to Miami and beyond.2012 marked an important period of expansion for Julianspromos. What had begun with New York-based music promotion and early artist interviews was developing into a broader Caribbean multimedia operation.
Throughout the year, Julianspromos documented artists, concerts, mas-band launches, Carnival road experiences and major Caribbean events across New York, New Jersey, Washington, D.C., Atlantic City and Miami.
The surviving archive captures that transition through original interviews, performances, video coverage and photography — including Julianspromos’ first Miami Carnival road experience.

New York Carnival & Caribbean Events
New York remained the center of Julianspromos’ coverage in 2012, with original media documenting Carnival culture, Soca events, mas presentations, fetes and live entertainment throughout the city.
Building Toward New York Carnival
Before Labor Day reached Eastern Parkway, Julianspromos was already documenting the 2012 mas season through band launches, costume presentations and visits inside the spaces where Carnival was being built.
Miami Carnival Weekend

2012 captures Julianspromos at a turning point.
The year began with artist interviews and performances in New York, but the archive quickly broadened. Cameras moved into mas-band launches and Carnival camps, traveled to major concerts in New Jersey and Washington, documented New York Carnival weekend from multiple angles and eventually followed the culture south to Miami.
The Miami trip was particularly significant. It marked Julianspromos’ first Miami Carnival road experience and helped establish a pattern of traveling to document Caribbean culture beyond New York.
The year also marked the debut of Intrigue Lane with Julianspromos, adding another on-camera personality to the growing media team. Sheniele “Vivaa” Dodson, Chandelle “Chandy” De Riggs and Intrigue Lane appeared across different assignments during the year, while Julian C. Hackett continued handling much of the shooting, editing and production behind the coverage.
Rifa Madness also assisted Julianspromos during the Jammin’ in the Park coverage in Washington, D.C., appearing as a guest contributor for that specific assignment rather than as part of the regular correspondent team.
Viewed together, the surviving footage and photography show the platform becoming more than a place for music promotion. By the end of 2012, Julianspromos was building the foundation of the Caribbean multimedia archive that would continue expanding in the years ahead.
