Machel Montano Leads the 10th Annual Six Flags Caribbean Concert in 2015

On Sunday, July 12, 2015, Caribbean music returned to Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, New Jersey for the 10th Annual Caribbean Concert, with Machel Montano at the center of the celebration.
The event blended a full day at the amusement park with a Caribbean concert experience, giving families and Soca fans a chance to enjoy the rides, attractions and summer atmosphere before turning their attention to the stage.
Ten Years of Caribbean Concerts at Six Flags
By 2015, the Caribbean Concert had reached an important milestone.
The original promotional flyer billed the event as the 10th Annual Caribbean Concert and placed Machel Montano front and center for the July 12 celebration at Six Flags Great Adventure.

For fans traveling from New York, New Jersey and the surrounding Caribbean community, the format offered something a little different from a traditional concert.
The day could begin with roller coasters and attractions before shifting into live Caribbean music.
Machel Montano Takes the Stage
Machel Montano was the headline attraction, bringing his catalog of Soca hits to the Six Flags crowd during one of the busiest summer concert weekends of the season.
The surviving footage also captures Machel performing with Request Band, adding a live-band feel to the show and giving the crowd another side of the performance.
A Full Soca Lineup
Machel was only part of the day.
The event also featured a wider Caribbean lineup that included Fadda Fox, Skinny Fabulous, Angela Hunte, Rayzor and Leonce of Request Band, Young Devyn and Tallpree, along with specialty entertainment including limbo.
The mix gave the concert a festival feel, with multiple artists sharing the stage while families moved between the music and the attractions around the park.

His appearance added another burst of Soca energy to an already packed Caribbean lineup.

The entertainment was not limited to singers.
A separate surviving video features Shemika Charles, known for her limbo performances, taking the stage during the Caribbean Concert.
It added another Caribbean cultural element to a day already filled with music, family entertainment and summer festival energy.
A Caribbean Summer Day at Great Adventure
Part of the appeal of the Six Flags Caribbean Concert was the setting itself.
This was not simply a concert inside an arena.
The amusement park remained part of the experience throughout the day, with families enjoying the rides and attractions before gathering around the stage for the live performances.
By the time the music took over, the event felt like a mix of theme-park outing, family celebration and Soca festival.
