SOS Fest Beach Fest Toronto at Wild Water Kingdom Highlights 2015
Julianspromos was in Toronto in May 2015 for S.O.S. Fest, the Summer of Soca Festival, documenting a major daytime celebration of Soca music at Wild Water Kingdom in Brampton, Ontario.
Held on Saturday, May 30, 2015, the festival brought together some of the Caribbean’s leading Soca artists and live bands for an outdoor concert experience built around music, Caribbean culture and the beginning of the Canadian summer.
Original video coverage was produced by Julianspromos, with Chandelle “Chandy” De Riggs serving as on-camera host, capturing performances and the atmosphere surrounding the festival.
Summer of Soca Comes to Toronto
S.O.S. Fest was promoted as the Summer of Soca Festival, bringing a large-scale Caribbean daytime concert experience to the Greater Toronto Area.
The event took place at Wild Water Kingdom, then one of the region’s best-known outdoor entertainment and water-park venues, at 7855 Finch Avenue West in Brampton.
Doors opened at 1 PM with performances beginning later in the afternoon. The festival was designed as an all-ages event, combining a beach-festival atmosphere with live Soca bands, DJs, food and Caribbean culture.
A Major Soca Lineup
The 2015 Summer of Soca Festival assembled a substantial lineup of Caribbean performers.
Headlining the event was Machel Montano with his full band, joined by Kes The Band, Ravi B & Karma, Kerwin Du Bois, Angela Hunte, Farmer Nappy, Skinny Fabulous and Logun.
The lineup brought together several different sides of contemporary Soca, from full-band performances to Power and Groovy Soca, helping position the festival as more than a traditional nightclub fete.
Machel Montano’s own official event archive still lists the May 30, 2015 Toronto appearance at Wild Water Kingdom, preserving the event as part of his touring history.
DJs and Hosts
The festival experience extended beyond the live artist lineup.
The event was hosted by T-Rexxx, with a large group of DJs and MCs providing music throughout the day. Contemporary promotion listed names including Soca Sweetness, Soca Monarchs, Fresh Cut De Mayor, Marxman, Grand Slam, DJ Shiva, Junya Menace, DJ R.Y.A.N., DJ Jeff, SGT Duracell, DJ Knights, Party Essence, King Cobra and others.
The combination of live bands, artists, DJs and hosts helped create a festival format rather than a single-concert experience.
Chandelle “Chandy” De Riggs on the Scene
For Julianspromos, Chandelle “Chandy” De Riggs served as the on-camera host for the original 2015 coverage.
Her presence placed viewers inside the festival experience while Julianspromos documented the artists, performances and crowd during another stop in the company’s expanding international multimedia coverage.
The Toronto footage became part of a much larger 2015 chapter for Julianspromos, when the company was documenting Caribbean music, Carnival and entertainment across multiple international markets.
The Beginning of a Long-Running Toronto Festival
Looking back, the 2015 Wild Water Kingdom event carries additional historical importance because SOS Fest continued well beyond its early format.
The festival returned to Wild Water Kingdom in 2016, when organizers expanded the concept into a two-day weekend incorporating both the Summer of Soca Festival and Summer of Reggae Festival. Contemporary promotion described SOS as an annual festival “returning bigger and stronger.”
By 2024, SOS Fest officially promoted its Toronto Carnival Weekend edition as “Year X,” celebrating its 10-year anniversary. That chronology places the 2015 event documented by Julianspromos at the beginning of the festival’s decade-long development.
The event has since evolved into a multi-day Caribbean music festival surrounding Toronto Carnival, incorporating experiences such as Colours, Carnival Kingdom, Revivor and Legends.
That continued growth gives this early Julianspromos footage considerably more archival value today than the brief original WordPress post suggested.
Part of the 2015 Julianspromos Multimedia Carnival Tour
SOS Fest Toronto also came during a landmark year in Julianspromos history.
In 2015, Julianspromos launched its first formal Multimedia Carnival Tour, documenting Caribbean Carnivals and entertainment across ten international destinations.
The Toronto SOS Fest coverage shows that the company’s multimedia work during this period extended beyond Parade of Bands coverage. Julianspromos was also documenting the concerts, fetes and emerging event brands surrounding the wider international Soca ecosystem.
With Chandelle “Chandy” De Riggs on camera, SOS Fest became another piece of that expanding 2015 multimedia archive.

SOS Fest Toronto 2015 Highlights at Wild Water Kingdom is preserved as part of the Julianspromos Archives, documenting an early edition of a festival that would grow into a major part of Toronto’s Caribbean entertainment calendar.
The footage also preserves another chapter of Julianspromos’ original Soca and Caribbean multimedia coverage during one of the most active periods in the company’s history.
