Ice Gold Green Paint & Powder Fete New York: Julianspromos Highlights 2014–2015

For two consecutive years, Julianspromos documented Ice Gold Green in New York, capturing the paint, powder, water, DJs and Soca surrounding a recurring Memorial Weekend experience.

Across 2014 and 2015, Sheniele “Vivaa” Dodson hosted the original Julianspromos coverage, bringing viewers directly into the crowd and atmosphere.

Together, the two years provide a colorful snapshot of New York’s Caribbean paint-fete culture during the mid-2010s.

Ice Gold & Greenz 2014

The 2nd Annual Ice Gold & Greenz took place on May 25, 2014 at PacPlex Sports Complex in Brooklyn.

The event drew a reported 1,600 patrons, creating a large Memorial Weekend celebration centered around Soca, paint and Caribbean party culture.

Original Julianspromos coverage featured Julian Hackett behind the camera and Sheniele “Vivaa” Dodson hosting

DJs, Sounds and Live Drums

Music came from Pantrin Vybez, Elegance Sounds, Infared Sounds, Freeze International, DJ Little B, DJ Hotsteppa and Boom Champions.

Greenz Rhythm Brothers added live drums, bringing another rhythmic element into the experience.

The event was driven by DJs, percussion and crowd participation rather than a single headline performer.

The Promoters

The 2014 edition was presented by Jabby Promotions, G-Force Entertainment, Maestro Entertainment and 473 Party Rockers.

Their collaboration brought together different parts of New York’s Caribbean event network for a large Memorial Weekend fete.

Ice Gold Green Returns in 2015

Ice Gold Green returned during Memorial Weekend 2015, once again bringing Soca, paint, powder and water together in New York.

Sheniele “Vivaa” Dodson returned as host for Julianspromos, continuing the visual story started the previous year.

The second consecutive year gave Julianspromos another look at the event as it developed into a recognizable recurring part of the Memorial Weekend calendar.

Two Years of One Experience

Placed together, the 2014 and 2015 footage shows the continuity of the event.

The same core ingredients remained at the center: Soca, color, crowd participation and the freedom of a J’Ouvert-inspired party experience.
