2016 Hollywood Carnival Highlights
Julianspromos was on the ground in Los Angeles for Hollywood Carnival 2016, capturing the color, music and energy of Caribbean Carnival as masqueraders took over Hollywood Boulevard.
The grand Carnival parade took place on Saturday, June 25, 2016, traveling along Hollywood Boulevard from Vermont Avenue toward Highland Avenue as multiple mas bands brought Caribbean culture to the streets of Los Angeles.
Original Julianspromos coverage was captured by Julian Hackett and Sheniele “Vivaa” Dodson, documenting the Carnival experience and the presentation of Epic Mas.
Epic Mas on Hollywood Boulevard
Epic Mas brought its presentation to the road with hundreds of masqueraders, vibrant costumes and Soca music accompanying the band along the Hollywood Carnival route.
Music for Epic Mas was provided by Private Ryan and Young Chow, helping bring the sound and energy of Caribbean Carnival to the heart of Hollywood.
Founded in 2014, Epic Mas was created in support of the Los Angeles Culture Festival and quickly grew from an initial section of approximately 80 masqueraders into a full Carnival band of around 300 participants by 2015.
Before Hollywood Carnival 2016, Epic Mas had already expanded its Carnival presence internationally, participating in Barbados Crop Over, Toronto Caribana and Trinidad & Tobago Carnival, including a guest section with Fantasy Carnival in 2016.
