From Skinny Fabulous to Farmer Nappy: BoomStation Anniversary Through the Julianspromos Lens, 2013–2015
For three consecutive years, Julianspromos documented BoomStation’s New York anniversary celebrations, preserving a period when Caribbean internet radio, online video, Soca and Dancehall were increasingly coming together within New York’s Caribbean entertainment community.
Established in 2011, BoomStation built its identity around 24-hour Reggae, Dancehall and Soca programming, alongside DJs, announcers, news, talk and artist interviews. Its own history records interviews with artists including Machel Montano, Bunji Garlin, Alison Hinds, Skinny Fabulous, Mr. Vegas, Beenie Man, Spice, Hypasounds and others, while the station also participated in community initiatives and New York’s West Indian Carnival.
Julianspromos’ surviving coverage from 2013, 2014 and 2015 captures that media platform through live performances and interviews featuring Skinny Fabulous, Mr. Vegas, Alison Hinds, Hypasounds, Yung Image, Farmer Nappy and Majah Hype. Just as importantly, the footage documents the evolving roles of Intrigue, Chandelle “Chandy” De Riggs and Julian C. Hackett behind and in front of the camera.

2013: Skinny Fabulous, Intrigue and Chandy Behind the Camera
The surviving Julianspromos BoomStation anniversary archive begins on March 2, 2013, with a performance by Vincentian Soca artist Skinny Fabulous followed by a post-performance interview conducted by Intrigue.
At the time, Skinny Fabulous was already one of St. Vincent and the Grenadines’ leading Soca performers. Only months after the BoomStation appearance, he would win both the 2013 Vincy Soca Monarch and Road March titles with “The General.”
That timing gives the 2013 footage additional historical value. Julianspromos captured Skinny Fabulous shortly before another major championship season in his career.
Behind the scenes, Chandelle “Chandy” De Riggs operated the camera, while Julian C. Hackett edited the footage.

Chandy’s BoomStation Role Was Bigger Than the Anniversary Coverage
The BoomStation archive also preserves an important crossover in Chandy’s media career.
During this same period, Chandelle “Chandy” De Riggs was working with both Julianspromos and BoomStation.
At BoomStation, listeners knew her as Chandy Sweet. Her role extended into the station’s regular programming, where she worked as a co-host and news anchor, and surviving professional history also identifies her with co-host and program-director responsibilities for Watch Chubble. Her BoomStation schedule included Watch Chubble on Tuesday nights from 10 PM to midnight, along with Saturday programming with Black Jack International and Maddness Family from 1 PM to 6 PM.
At the same time, she remained active with Julianspromos across photography, video production, writing and media coverage.
That makes the BoomStation anniversary series more than ordinary event coverage. Chandy was helping document BoomStation for Julianspromos while also being part of BoomStation’s own broadcasting operation.
2014: Mr. Vegas, Alison Hinds, Hypasounds & Yung Image
Julianspromos returned on March 15, 2014, documenting another BoomStation anniversary with a lineup spanning Dancehall, Soca and New York Caribbean talent.

The presence of Mr. Vegas and Alison Hinds fit naturally with BoomStation’s mix of Dancehall and Soca. The two artists had previously collaborated on the Soca remix of Mr. Vegas’ “Bruk It Down,” a record specifically designed to bridge Dancehall and Carnival audiences.
Hypasounds added another strong Barbados connection. Later in 2014, his song “So Good” reached the reserve position for Barbados’ Sweet Soca Monarch semifinals.
For this edition, Julianspromos used no on-camera host. Chandy remained behind the camera, while Julian handled the edit.

The setup is particularly interesting in retrospect because Chandy was simultaneously a member of BoomStation’s on-air family. She was effectively documenting an organization she was also helping represent on radio.
2015: Farmer Nappy and Skinny Fabulous Return the Focus to Soca
The third surviving Julianspromos BoomStation anniversary coverage came on March 14, 2015, only weeks after Trinidad Carnival.
Farmer Nappy and Skinny Fabulous were among the featured performers.
Farmer Nappy arrived in New York with major Carnival momentum behind “My House.” In February, the song had carried him to second place in the 2015 International Groovy Soca Monarch competition, behind Olatunji’s “Ola.”
Skinny Fabulous had also competed in that year’s Groovy final with “Anywhere We Step.”
His appearance also created continuity across the archive. Skinny Fabulous had been the central artist in the 2013 BoomStation video and was now back two years later as part of the 2015 anniversary celebration.
Chandy Moves From Camera to Host
By 2015, Chandy’s role within the Julianspromos BoomStation coverage had visibly changed.
In 2013, she was behind the camera.
In 2014, she again shot the footage without an on-camera Julianspromos host.
In 2015, she moved in front of the camera and hosted the Julianspromos coverage, while Julian C. Hackett handled both shooting and editing.

That evolution is even more meaningful because Chandy was not entering BoomStation as an unfamiliar outside interviewer. She already had an established on-air identity within the station through Watch Chubble and her BoomStation programming work.
Majah Hype Sits Down With Chandy
A separate Julianspromos video from the 2015 anniversary preserves Chandelle “Chandy” De Riggs interviewing Majah Hype.
The surviving video title confirms the interview took place at the March 14, 2015 BoomStation NY Anniversary Party.
The timing was notable. By 2015, Majah Hype was emerging as one of the Caribbean diaspora’s most recognizable online comedians, particularly in Brooklyn and New York, after earlier experience in music and DJ culture.
The interview therefore brings several parts of the era together: Caribbean internet radio, online comedy, YouTube video and New York’s Caribbean entertainment community.
Three Years, Three Different Julianspromos Setups
Seen together, the three BoomStation anniversaries also document the development of the Julianspromos media operation.
2013: Intrigue hosted and interviewed Skinny Fabulous, Chandy shot the footage, and Julian edited.
2014: Chandy handled the camera without a host, and Julian again edited.
2015: Chandy became the on-camera host, while Julian took over both shooting and editing.
That progression gives the footage value beyond the artists themselves.
It captures how Julianspromos was developing its own production structure, while also documenting Chandy’s growth from behind-the-camera contributor into a more visible Caribbean media personality.
Looking Back
The BoomStation anniversary archive preserves a distinctive period in New York Caribbean media history.
BoomStation was using internet radio to connect listeners with Reggae, Dancehall and Soca through live programming, interviews and personalities. Julianspromos was using online video to preserve artists, performances and Caribbean events for audiences far beyond the room where they happened.
For several years, those two worlds overlapped directly through Chandelle “Chandy” De Riggs.
Across the 2013–2015 anniversary footage, Julianspromos captured Skinny Fabulous, Mr. Vegas, Alison Hinds, Hypasounds, Yung Image, Farmer Nappy and Majah Hype, while also preserving the changing roles of Intrigue, Chandy and Julian C. Hackett behind the coverage.
Together, the videos are more than three anniversary recaps.
They preserve three consecutive years of BoomStation, Julianspromos and New York Caribbean digital media evolving alongside each other.
