P.C.D. New York: Post Carnival Depression Highlights 2013–2016
For four consecutive years, Julianspromos documented P.C.D. (Post Carnival Depression) in New York, capturing an event built around one of Carnival culture’s most familiar feelings: Trinidad Carnival may be over, but nobody is ready for the music and energy to end.
From 2013 through 2016, P.C.D. brought Soca artists, DJs and Carnival energy back together in New York shortly after the Trinidad and Tobago Carnival season.
Across those four years, Julianspromos captured artists including Bunji Garlin, Fay-Ann Lyons, Kerwin Du Bois, Lyrikal, 5Star Akil, Olatunji, Ricardo Drue, Teddyson John and Preedy.
P.C.D. New York 2013
The 2013 edition featured Bunji Garlin, Fay-Ann Lyons, Lyrikal and more, with Sheniele “Vivaa” Dodson hosting the Julianspromos coverage.
The footage captured P.C.D. during an exciting period for Soca, as Bunji Garlin’s music was beginning to reach increasingly international audiences.
Julianspromos also captured an original interview with Bunji Garlin and Fay-Ann Lyons, hosted by Sheniele “Vivaa” Dodson.
P.C.D. New York 2014
P.C.D. returned on March 23, 2014 at LQ, Latin Quarters in Manhattan.
Presented by ShorBlu Events and Back2Basics Entertainment, the edition featured Kerwin Du Bois, Lyrikal and 5Star Akil.
Music came from SLI, Pantrin Vybz, Sounds4Life, Back2Basics and Milo Myles, while Tony Cross hosted the event.
For Julianspromos, Julian Hackett handled video coverage and Lyrikal served as guest host.
The video preserves performances including songs from 5Star Akil, Lyrikal and an extended set from Kerwin Du Bois.
P.C.D. New York 2015
P.C.D. returned on March 8, 2015 at Stage48 in Manhattan.
The lineup featured Kerwin Du Bois, Olatunji, Ricardo Drue and Lyrikal, with Sheniele “Vivaa” Dodson hosting the original Julianspromos production.
The year brought together returning P.C.D. performers with new names, giving viewers another snapshot of the Soca season as it moved from Trinidad into New York.
P.C.D. New York 2016
On February 28, 2016, P.C.D. returned to Stage48.
The lineup featured Teddyson John, Preedy, Ricardo Drue, Lyrikal and Kerwin Du Bois.
For Julianspromos, Julian Hackett handled video coverage while Sheniele “Vivaa” Dodson served as media correspondent.
By this point, the footage had created a four-year visual history of one of New York’s recurring post-Carnival Soca events.
Four Years of P.C.D.
Across the four editions, familiar artists returned while new performers entered the story.
The result is a snapshot of four different Soca seasons and the way each year’s music traveled from Trinidad Carnival into the New York diaspora.

From Bunji Garlin and Fay-Ann Lyons in 2013 to the Stage48 lineups of 2015 and 2016, the footage documents the artists, personalities and music that helped make P.C.D. part of New York’s Soca calendar.
