Meet Chandy
Chandelle “Chandy” De Riggs
Director of Public Relations & Media, Julianspromos
From on-camera media correspondent to public relations and media leadership.
Chandelle “Chandy” De Riggs is a media, communications and public relations professional whose career has developed across entertainment media, content creation, artist development, entrepreneurship and creative production. Today, she serves as Director of Public Relations & Media at Julianspromos, bringing more than a decade of firsthand experience with the company into a behind-the-scenes leadership role centered on communications, media relations, artist and client coordination, and brand representation.
Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Chandy developed an interest in media and communications that would eventually lead her into television, entertainment coverage, photography, writing and public relations. Her professional development has included experience in television production and media relations, along with formal studies in photography. She also holds a Master of Public Administration (MPA).
Her relationship with Julianspromos began during one of the most formative periods in the company’s history, when the platform itself was evolving from digital music promotion into original Caribbean entertainment media.
Joining Julianspromos
Chandy joined the Julianspromos story in 2011.
Her first interview for the platform was with Soca artist Problem Child at Mango Seed Restaurant in Brooklyn, New York. What began as an opportunity to conduct an artist interview would develop into a much larger role within the growing Julianspromos media operation.
As Julianspromos increased its focus on original multimedia content, Chandy became one of the personalities representing the platform in front of the camera. Her work expanded to include artist interviews, event coverage and Caribbean entertainment reporting, placing her directly within the growing Soca and Caribbean media landscape.
Over the years, her Julianspromos interview history expanded to include prominent Caribbean artists such as Kes and Bunji Garlin, among others. Through those experiences, Chandy interacted directly with artists, promoters, audiences and entertainment professionals while helping Julianspromos build an expanding visual archive of Caribbean culture.
Those early years also allowed her to develop skills that would later become increasingly important away from the camera: communication, relationship building, artist coordination, storytelling and an understanding of how media works from both the talent and media perspectives.
Expanding Beyond New York
As Julianspromos expanded its media footprint beyond New York, Chandy became part of the platform’s growing presence in other Caribbean entertainment markets.
Toronto became particularly memorable.
Chandy identifies SOS Fest Toronto in 2014 and Jab Jab J’Ouvert Toronto in 2014 among some of her favorite experiences with Julianspromos. These events came during a period when the platform was increasingly traveling beyond its New York base to document Soca artists, festivals and Carnival-related events in other markets.
These experiences represented more than individual assignments. They were part of a period in which Julianspromos was establishing itself as an independent Caribbean media operation, building relationships across different Carnival communities while preserving performances, interviews and cultural moments through original coverage.
For Chandy, the opportunity to work in these environments also broadened her understanding of Caribbean entertainment beyond the New York market and strengthened relationships that would remain useful as her career developed.
Miami Carnival and the Team Era
Another particularly memorable chapter came during Miami Carnival 2014, when the Julianspromos team of the era was together, including Julian Hackett, Sheniele “Vivaa” Dodson, Chandelle “Chandy” De Riggs and Intrigue Lane.
By this stage, Julianspromos had developed far beyond the early days of individual artist interviews. The team was traveling, covering events and documenting Caribbean entertainment across multiple markets.
For Chandy, Miami Carnival 2014 remains an important part of the period when Julianspromos was developing its identity as a traveling Caribbean media team and expanding its presence beyond New York.
The experience also represents a memorable period in the company’s history when the personalities viewers saw individually across interviews and event coverage were working together as part of a broader media operation.
UberSoca Cruise and the Later Media Years
Chandy’s involvement in Julianspromos media continued into the later 2010s.
In 2018, she was aboard UberSoca Cruise, extending her connection to Julianspromos media coverage during a period when the platform continued documenting Soca culture across major events and international experiences.
Her continued involvement during this period is important to understanding Chandy’s professional evolution. Her movement from on-camera media work into public relations and media leadership was not an abrupt change at a single moment.
Instead, it developed gradually.
While Chandy continued to have a presence within Julianspromos media and entertainment environments, the skills she had built through years of interviewing artists, attending events and representing a media platform were increasingly becoming useful behind the scenes as well.
From Media Personality to Media Professional
Years spent conducting interviews and working around live entertainment gave Chandy an understanding of media from the front of the camera.
Over time, she increasingly applied that experience behind it.
Communication, artist relations, media coordination, relationship management and understanding how talent should be represented became increasingly important parts of her professional identity.
Chandy understood what interviewers needed because she had been one. She understood the experience of talent because she had worked directly with artists. She understood event media because she had spent years working inside those environments.
Rather than leaving her on-camera history behind, she built upon it.
The experiences gained as a correspondent became part of the foundation for her work in public relations, communications and media leadership, eventually leading to her current position as Director of Public Relations & Media at Julianspromos.
Building Her Own Creative Identity
While developing alongside Julianspromos, Chandy also established projects and professional interests of her own.
On February 14, 2014, she launched Watch Chubble, expanding her work within entertainment and media.
That same period also saw the development of Chandy’s Flavor, an entrepreneurial venture that began in 2014 and was later officially registered in 2021.
In 2019, Chandy established Chandy Media, creating a professional identity around her own work in media, communications and creative projects.
These ventures allowed Chandy to continue building an identity that existed both alongside and independently of her work with Julianspromos.
Her career was no longer defined solely by appearing in front of a camera. It increasingly reflected a broader understanding of communication, branding, content development and creative entrepreneurship.
Creative Production and Music
Chandy’s experience has also extended into the creative side of music and visual production.
Her work with Tynie has included involvement with projects such as “Soley Levy” and “Sweetest Connection.”
Her contributions have gone beyond traditional publicity. Chandy has participated in creative development, concept work and assistant directing, helping break down ideas and working alongside directors and artists to shape the visual flow of projects.
Her experience has also included collaborating with producers around song flow, lyrics and concepts, adding another dimension to a career that had already crossed media, communications and entertainment.
This creative work reflects one of the recurring themes throughout Chandy’s professional journey: she has rarely remained confined to only one side of the entertainment industry.
Her experience has moved between interviewer, correspondent, communications professional, entrepreneur and creative collaborator.
Event Production and Stage Management
Chandy’s experience has also extended into event production and stage management, adding another layer to her work behind the scenes in entertainment.
Her production experience has included work with NTP Eventz, as well as projects connected to Boomstation, Vincy Day USA Inc. and Carnival Comedy Series. These roles placed her within the operational side of live entertainment, where coordination, timing, communication and the ability to manage artists and production teams are essential.
Among the larger events she has helped stage-manage are Mess Fete, which attracted more than 8,000 patrons, and Vincy Day USA Inc., with an attendance of more than 5,000.
Working in live-event production further strengthened the skills that would become central to Chandy’s broader professional identity. In addition to understanding entertainment from the perspective of a media correspondent, she gained experience with the planning, coordination and execution required behind the scenes to successfully present large-scale events.
Expanding Into Acting
In June 2026, Chandy added another creative chapter when she joined the cast of The Struggle Love Diary as an actor.
The project itself began in May 2024, with Chandy joining the existing production later.
Her move into acting represented another extension of a career built around communication, media and storytelling, allowing her to explore performance after years of working around entertainment from several other perspectives.
The move also demonstrated Chandy’s continued willingness to explore new areas of entertainment rather than allowing her professional identity to remain fixed in one role.
Chandy Today
Today, Chandelle “Chandy” De Riggs brings those different experiences together in her role as Director of Public Relations & Media at Julianspromos.
Her relationship with the company stretches from its formative multimedia years to its present-day operation across music discovery, media, promotion, digital distribution and artist management.
Few people within the organization have experienced that evolution from as many different perspectives.
Chandy has represented Julianspromos in front of the camera, interviewed artists, traveled as part of its media operation, experienced major Carnival and Soca events alongside the team, developed independent media ventures, contributed creatively to music and visual projects, and expanded into acting.
Today, much of that experience is applied behind the scenes.
Her work increasingly centers on the communications, relationships, media activity, artist and client coordination, and brand representation necessary to support Julianspromos and the people and projects connected to the organization.
The progression from correspondent to public relations leadership was therefore not the closing of one career and the beginning of another.
It was an evolution.
The skills Chandy developed while documenting Caribbean entertainment ultimately became the foundation for helping shape how people, projects and brands are represented within it.
More than a decade after conducting her first Julianspromos interview with Problem Child at Mango Seed Restaurant in Brooklyn, Chandelle “Chandy” De Riggs remains an important part of the Julianspromos story, carrying forward both the institutional knowledge of its early media years and the communications experience required for its present and future.
Her journey can be traced from interviewer and media correspondent to creative collaborator, entrepreneur and Director of Public Relations & Media, with each chapter building naturally upon the one that came before.
