Project X Fete St. Maarten 2015: Future, Mr. Vegas & Caribbean Stars Take Carnival Village
St. Maarten Carnival had already been going since before sunrise.
Earlier on Monday, April 27, 2015, Julianspromos was on the road for the island’s J’Ouvert Morning celebration. By 8:00 PM, the cameras were back out again — this time inside Carnival Village for Project X Fete.
Presented by SIK Entertainment and LBB, Project X brought together Hip-Hop, Dancehall, Soca, Bouyon and St. Maarten talent for a Carnival Monday concert running from 8:00 PM until 3:00 AM.
The advertised lineup included Future, Mr. Vegas, Shurwayne Winchester, Ravi B, Asa Bantan, Exodus HD, Red Eye Crew, King Vers, Roxxy, Tha Hotshot, Kenyo Baly and more.
For Julianspromos, the night also carried another significance.
This was part of the company’s first-ever trip to St. Maarten.

From J’Ouvert Before Sunrise to Project X After Dark
April 27 was a serious Carnival day.
Julianspromos had started the morning in the streets during St. Maarten J’Ouvert, following J’Ouvert Morning Splash through paint, water, fog and Soca.
A few hours later, the setting changed completely.
The paint trucks were gone.
The sun had disappeared.
And Carnival Village was filling up for a major nighttime concert.
Same island.
Same Carnival Monday.
Completely different energy.
Future Brings Hip-Hop to Carnival Village
Sitting prominently at the top of the Project X lineup was Future.
His appearance added a major American Hip-Hop name to a night already packed with Caribbean artists.
Instead of building the concert around one sound, Project X put Future into the same Carnival Village environment as Dancehall, Soca, Bouyon and homegrown St. Maarten talent.
St. Maarten artist Tha Hotshot, who performed that night, later identified Future and Mr. Vegas as the event’s headlining artists.
That combination immediately told you what kind of night Project X was trying to create.
Not a pure Hip-Hop show.
Not a pure Soca fete.
Not a Dancehall concert.
A little bit of everything.
Mr. Vegas Brings the Dancehall
On the Caribbean side of the headline lineup was Mr. Vegas.
His catalogue brought a strong Jamaican Dancehall presence into Carnival Village and made him a natural counterpart to Future at the top of the bill.
Project X could move from American Hip-Hop into Jamaican Dancehall without changing venues — and then straight into Soca, Bouyon or local music afterward.
Shurwayne Winchester & Ravi B Add Trinidad to the Night
Shurwayne Winchester and Ravi B brought Trinidad and Tobago into the lineup.
Shurwayne represented mainstream Soca, while Ravi B added another Caribbean sound through his Soca and Chutney Soca background.
Their presence helped keep the event connected to Carnival even as the lineup crossed into Hip-Hop and Dancehall.
One stage could go from Future to Mr. Vegas to Trinidad Soca.
That was Project X.
Asa Bantan Brings Bouyon Energy
Then there was Asa Bantan.
His high-energy Bouyon style fit naturally into a Carnival Village crowd already primed to jump.
Asa also became one of the artists captured prominently in the Julianspromos video, giving viewers another Caribbean layer beyond the international headliners.
King Vers Represents St. Maarten
Project X did not forget where it was happening.
King Vers represented St. Maarten within both the advertised lineup and the Julianspromos coverage.
His presence mattered because the night was not simply about flying international stars into Carnival Village.
Local artists were sharing that same stage.
They were part of the event, not an afterthought.
Red Eye Crew, Exodus HD, Roxxy, Tha Hotshot & More
The lineup stretched well beyond the biggest names on the flyer.
Red Eye Crew, Exodus HD, Roxxy, Tha Hotshot and Kenyo Baly were also advertised, giving the concert a much deeper Caribbean and St. Maarten presence.
Tha Hotshot later recalled performing at Project X and opening for headliners Future and Mr. Vegas.
The result was a lineup that could keep changing its sound all night.

Julianspromos’ First Time in St. Maarten
The 2015 Carnival trip marked Julianspromos’ first-ever time in St. Maarten.
And the first day was not exactly a quiet introduction.
Before sunrise, Julian was already on the road filming J’Ouvert Morning Splash.
By night, the camera had moved into Carnival Village for Project X.
That meant Julianspromos’ first day documenting St. Maarten included two completely different sides of Carnival:
J’Ouvert before sunrise.
A major international concert after dark.
Project X therefore became more than another concert assignment.
It was part of the beginning of Julianspromos’ St. Maarten story. The current archive also identifies the 2015 trip as the platform’s first time on the island.
One Day, Two Sides of St. Maarten Carnival
Seen together, J’Ouvert and Project X tell the full story of April 27.
The morning belonged to paint, water, fog and Soca on the road.
The night belonged to Carnival Village.
Future brought Hip-Hop.
Mr. Vegas brought Dancehall.
Shurwayne Winchester and Ravi B brought Trinidad.
Asa Bantan brought Bouyon.
King Vers and the other local performers brought St. Maarten.
And Julianspromos was there experiencing the island’s Carnival for the first time.

By 2015, Julianspromos was traveling farther beyond its New York beginnings and documenting Caribbean entertainment where the culture was actually happening.
St. Maarten became another important stop in that expansion.
But the first experience on the island was especially memorable because it began with two assignments on the same day.
First J’Ouvert.
Then Project X.
Paint and water in the morning.
Future and Mr. Vegas at night.
Not a bad way to meet St. Maarten.
