Julianspromos was in Kingston, Jamaica on Saturday, April 11, 2015 for Sunnation’s Sunrise Breakfast Party, one of the signature early-morning fetes surrounding Jamaica Carnival.
Held at Hope Gardens, the all-inclusive breakfast party ran from 4 AM to 12 PM, combining Soca, Caribbean food and drinks, live performances and an outdoor setting divided into sun, shade and mist experiences. The event took place one day before the Bacchanal Jamaica Road March.

Sunrise at Hope Gardens
By 2015, Sunrise had already become an established part of Jamaica’s Carnival calendar.
The breakfast party traces back to 2012, when an early Sunrise was staged at Constant Spring Golf Club as an all-inclusive Carnival Saturday morning event. Contemporary coverage described the 2013 edition as its second year, while 2014 coverage identified Sunnation as being in its third year of establishing Sunrise as a major Carnival Saturday breakfast party.
The 2015 edition moved the experience into the greenery of Hope Gardens, where patrons could choose between dry, shaded and mist sections while enjoying an extensive all-inclusive food and drink offering. Jamaica’s Gleaner also documented the event at the time, highlighting the three distinct sun, shade and mist environments.
An All-Inclusive Carnival Breakfast Experience
Food was a major part of the Sunrise concept.
Contemporary attendees described a large breakfast selection that included Caribbean and Jamaican dishes, fresh fruit and other morning offerings, while the layout provided dedicated food areas alongside the party experience.
The combination of premium food, drinks, Soca and an outdoor morning setting helped distinguish Sunrise from the traditional late-night fete format.
Even after a packed Jamaica Carnival week, patrons arrived early at Hope Gardens to continue the celebration before Sunday’s Road March.
Machel Montano, Angela Hunte and Blaxx Live
Sunrise 2015 also featured live performances from Machel Montano, Angela Hunte and Blaxx.
Machel’s presence connected Sunrise directly with one of the biggest names in Soca, while Angela Hunte and Blaxx added to a lineup that reflected the growing relationship between Jamaica Carnival and artists from across the wider Caribbean.
Contemporary reporting from the event also captured Machel Montano backstage with Trinidad and Tobago designer Anya Ayoung-Chee before his performance.
The original Julianspromos video uses Kerwin Du Bois’ “No Apology” and Olatunji’s “Ola” System32 Remix as part of its soundtrack, further preserving the sound of the 2015 Soca season.
Intrigue Lane on the Scene
For Julianspromos, Intrigue Lane served as the on-camera host for the original Sunrise coverage.
Rather than simply filming the stage, the production moved through the event and captured the patrons, fashion, personalities and overall atmosphere surrounding the breakfast party.
This approach had become an important part of Julianspromos’ multimedia identity by 2015, combining original video, photography and on-location hosting to document Caribbean events from inside the experience.

Part of Jamaica Carnival 2015
Sunrise took place during an especially busy Jamaica Carnival weekend.
The morning event followed a week filled with fetes and J’Ouvert celebrations and came immediately before the Bacchanal Jamaica Road March, giving visitors another major Soca experience during the final stretch of Carnival.
For Julianspromos, Jamaica was also one of the international destinations documented during the company’s 2015 Multimedia Carnival Tour, a year in which its Caribbean entertainment coverage expanded across ten Carnival markets.
Sunrise therefore fits naturally alongside the surviving Julianspromos coverage of Bacchanal Jamaica Carnival and other Jamaica Carnival events from 2015.
A Party That Became a Jamaica Carnival Staple
The historical value of this footage has grown with time.
Sunrise continued well beyond 2015 and developed into a signature Sunnation event associated with Jamaica Carnival. More than a decade later, Jamaican media still describes Sunrise as a major fixture of the Carnival calendar, with Sunnation continuing to stage the event at premium venues and with leading Soca artists.
That longevity makes the 2015 Julianspromos footage particularly useful. It captures Sunrise during an earlier period in the event’s development, several years after its introduction but long before it became the enduring Carnival brand it is today.
